Almost October
fall is pretty for like a week and then it's ugly. the trees are all bare and it's dark in the morning and dark when you come home at night. fall also means football. football is a double edged sword to me. i love going to husker games. i love going to the bar by our house with other nebraska folks and cheer on out team. i do not like waking up to a grouch on the couch every sunday. (although there's only been one super grouchy incident so far this season and i didn't witness it first hand).
fall doesn't even have that many good holidays. halloween? yeah i think i stopped trick or treating in the 3rd grade. after years of wearing a winter coat over your costume you just decide it's not worth it. thanksgiving? again not that great. i don't really care about pigging out in a group setting. i don't like pumpkin pie and i can have turkey and mashed potatoes whenever i choose. however i do looove to sing the turkey song my nephew learned in preschool.
there are a couple of fall things i like. i love caramel apples. i like to make martha stewart jack-o-lanterns. one year i made glitter pumpkins and last year i made polka dotted ones with different sized drill bits. and i love apple cider. i buy this mulling spices mix from hallmark that you mix with juice. yum yum. and i did buy a witches hat at target for a dollar to wear to teach on halloween.
i don't know what fall in california will be like. i am pretty sure it's like any northwestern fall. gloomy. this is why i didn't want to live in washington! hopefully it's not as rainy. i'm not to worried about it though because it's supposed to be nice and warm again next week. plus it's like 71 inside so it's not like it's even really cold at all. i adapt quickly to weather changes.
song lyrics of the day:
pitter patter the rain falling down
little glamor sun coming round
take a walk when autumn comes to town
