Serve yourself

going to the gas pump is not my idea of a good time. i have two exits past my house (which is like 5 mins away) to find the cheap places. i always go to the quickshop because its the cheapest station that is actually regulated. sure i could go to u.s. gas or whatever the hell it's called but i'd like to know i'm getting gasoline not dirty water. california gas is weird enough as it is- just ask patrick he'll tell you all about it. because ca has higher regulations they mix it differently then gasoline in other states. when patrick first moved here he said his car didn't like it. since my car is a california car i don't notice anything.

so when i go to the station it's kind of an awkward set up. there are 4 pumps and they are set in the corner of the lot at a diagonal. this wouldn't be a problem if people know how to get gas. i thought it was some sort of unwritten rule that if you can pull up to the next pump you do. that way somebody can easily get in behind you. it makes sense in my mind anyway. well that is not the case here. take yesterday for example.

i pull into the station and there are two cars on one side and one car on the other that is about ready to leave. there is a black range rover in line in front of me blastin his tunes. so the car pulls out and this dip shit gansta wannabe goes to that side and doesn't pull up so i can get in behind him. so i had to wait for a car on the other side to leave. which didn't end up being that long but that's not the point! you might be thinking why not go around in front of him. good question. that is a tricky situation because we would be head to head since my gas tank is on the drivers side. that means i may have to back out which is not ideal since there is a hug sign on the left and potentially another car and some idiot could pull in and hit you from the street. i know this because i've had to back out from that spot before and i don't like it.

i don't need idiots to add to the experience. paying 3.04 for gas twice a week is painful on it's own. there's no way i could drive to san fran every day. i'd kill myself.

song lyrics of the day:
pump it (louder)
pump it (louder)
turn up the radio
blast the stereo

Wall Space

i watched the goergia o'keeffe movie on lifetime this weekend and it lead me to revisit some of my favorite works of art. yes i know you're mocking me because i watched a lifetime movie but the only reason i even knew about it was because of project runway. plus i thought it looked good. lifetime used to make good movies. i remember watching several when i was younger. my mom still is a huge lifetime fan. but back to the art....

there are several o'keeffe's i'd love to own but here is one of my favs. now don't get all feminist on me and say it looks like a vagina. yes many have said that o'keeffe's imagery was very reminiscent of female anatomy but she denied purposely painting things that looked like female body parts. it's not her fault flowers look vajayjays.

i looooove jackson pollack. i own the movie pollack, i did a piece for a class in college in response to one of his paintings. to lots of people abstract are is weird and they "don't get it" but as long as i couldn't make it myself i love it.

I love this ansel adams because it just captures so well that great first snow feeling. growing up in the midwest i fully appreciate untouched snow. it's kind of a cliche choice but i still love it

who doesn't love van gogh? starry night is to obvious a choice so i chose mulberry tree. equally as awesome. and actually when i went to musee d'orsay i saw starry night and in person it's darker and to me less magical. mulberry tree is in the kurosawa movie dreams. we had to watch it in college and it's actually really cool. netflix it.

these are some miscellaneous prints that are in our casa currently. one is a kandinsky and the others are vintage ads which i really love. i got the cat one in france. good thing patrick doesn't care that our house is very girly.

i love having art in the home. i have lots of things i still don't have hung up yet but it'll get there. we had lots of art on the walls at our house. my aunt is a painter so we have lots of her stuff. it's actually really really good not like we are related to her so we have it kind of art. i would love to have the talent for painting but i'm hopeless. my drawings are about on a 2nd grade level. plus you're only famous post mortem so that's no fun.

it's kind of funny how your taste changes as you get older. i'm sure a lot of girls go through a monet phase (myself included) but it's really not my thing anymore. i do have some monet prints and being a dancer i have various items with monet prints on them ( jewelry box, dance bag, etc). really though that phase ended when i got to go to giverny to monet's house. it was one of the most beautiful places i've ever been and after seeing the real water lily pond nothing compares.

song lyrics of the day:
The painter stood before her work
She looked around everywhere
She saw the pictures and she painted them
