stuff it, build it, slanket, blanket

so a long time ago (back when i just graduated high school) i learned how to quilt. my friends lindsay and chrissy and i all got together and learned from lindsays mom. i started small with a lap quilt with a log cabin pattern. chrissy did a twin size rail fence, and i don't really remember lindsays because she pretty much gave up less than half way through and rita finished it for her. i really liked quilting. so much in fact i asked for a sewing machine for christmas and got fabric to make another quilt. i had intentions of giving it to taylor who was about 2 at the time and loved loved purple.

taylor is now 8 1/2 and the quilt is still not done. i have moved twice with this quilt, i've taken it to omaha over the summer, and it was lost in storage in chicago for 2 years ( which is a large part of why it isn't done). the saddest part is all i have left to do is the binding! ( that's the trim around the edge) this quilt has been sitting for 2-3 years 95% done!

there is a woman i jazzercise with that is a quilter and works part time at a quilting store. i have taken the first step and asked for her help. see i chose to do the border in a stripe and it's kinda messed up. so i want to redo the border. i dug it off the top shelf of the laundry room and took it to examine. i realised that the border isn't really all that bad. the problem is that i'm not very good at squaring things. one side is a bit crooked so that makes the border look worse. so i'm going to take it to the quilt store and hopefully have them help me out.

now looking at this quilt that is actually really pretty makes me want to revisit this hobby i really actually like. that would also require me to clean off my table which might be a challenge. so i've been browsing quilt patterns and fabrics and have decided to get my butt in gear and make one for my nephew. the hard part is picking the fabric. i'm not sure he'd like a quilt with colors i like. plus i don't think they have a wide variety of star wars fabric. now i just have to find the time to go to the quilt store and the cash because quilting is an expensive hobby.

tonight i am making oreo cheesecake cupcakes. i love to bake and by baking things i don't like my pants still fit.

are you watching the marriage ref? patrick was almost crying he was laughing so hard. it's a great show to watch because it makes your partner's annoying habits seem like nothing. i mean patrick has never wanted to stuff a pet that died. sure he can't build a porch but, i also know that so i wouldn't ask him to.

song lyrics of the day:
when I go,
i think i'm gonna sew my name into all of your clothes
my girl,
since you have always worn me well
