Home Sweet Home
it seems like everyone i know is buying a house these days. i know at least 6 people who have bought houses in the past year. yes i know it is a buyers market right now but that is something i'm just not really ready for yet. sure i would love to have a charming cute little house but i don't have that money for that. plus there are so many things i want to do first. i already know where i want to live and i know what kind of houses i like and what i will be kicked out of the family for. my dad and brother are builders after all and i have to have their approval first. plus i totally get that it's better to put your money in a home then rent. i get it. believe me my rent is more than most peoples mortgages.

when i am ready to buy a house i want it to be one i'm going to be in for a good while. i don't like to move and if i can get around that i will. i do not want a house that is "perfect". this is something patrick and i don't really agree on. i see it as why would i want a house i couldn't make

my own. i have no problem with ripping down walls and redoing cabinets. to me this is the norm. to patrick he sees this as more work. he would rather have a new house that's all done and would never change anything. but we both do not want homes that are cookie cutter.

here in california it is popular to have a two bedroom 1 bath house. really whats the point!? if i'm going to spend 300grand or more on a house it better have two bathrooms! i also want a big pantry and a huge walk in closet. i do not want the master bedroom on the 1st floor either especially if the other bedrooms are up stairs. i was browsing a website last night that you can buy house plans from and while looking at it i noticed it had a first floor master so patrick said make a different bedroom the master. it had 2 bedrooms with a jack and jill bathroom on the 2nd floor and he said see just make that one the master and the other one your closet! he knows me all too well. while discussing what we want in our future home i told patrick i always wanted to have a bedroom in a turret like rapunzel and he expressed his desire for a secret door.

here are some of our favorite houses that we certainly wouldn't object too.

we found a lot of craftsmens that we loved and i'm partial to the queen annes and the victorians because of my aforementioned turret thing. patrick also said why would you buy the plan when you can just go online and show somebody and they can copy it which is a very good point. but i'm sure you'd end up paying for them to draw up the blueprint anyway. the other funny thing about houses is now that we have looked at homes in the california area ( not to buy but just out of curiosity) we look at homes in omaha and say wow! we can get this house in field club for only 300grand! that's a good thing about moving you appreciate what you left behind. like good steaks and cheap cereal.

song lyrics of the day:
all wet, hey you might need a raincoat
shakedown, dreams walking in broad daylight
three hundred sixty five degrees
burning down the house
