The Trouble With Cooking

ok so now that i'm a "not wife" i've been cooking. i'm in no way a stranger to cooking. i did it all the time in college...not so much when i lived at home just because i have a weird thing about making meals not in my kitchen-unless it's a babysitting situation. but here's my issue with cooking. you spend the money to make stuff and then there's a chance you won't like it. now i know that it's common and you cant like everything you make but the problem is patrick is picky. it's not like when my mom makes dinner and she doesn't love it but my dad will eat it all anyway. if i don't like it i'm not gonna eat it. patrick does his best to eat stuff but with his aversion to many ingredients it annoys me when he picks stuff out. its only happened twice but it's annoying none the less. i must give patrick some credit though, he's been doing really well with tomatoes and onions. but i will admit i don't give him the option it's eat what i make or starve and it forces me to practice my knife skills so i can chop really finely. plus it's good that he is getting used to eating stuff that he doesn't love because i've told him when our kids say they aren't eating something because dad isn't i'll freak out. i refuse to raise my kids to not try things. i don't care if you try it and don't like it but you have to try it that's my rule. the most recent dinner i didn't like i think i ruined. i put too much parsley in it. i didn't think it would make much of a difference but i think it messed up the texture. oh well. i'll make patrick eat as much as he can and then i guess i'll pitch it. to me that's the most annoying part. i can't wait until i have a house so i can have a compost pile. at least then i'm not throwing money away. i'd rather have excess dirt that i can use to plant pretty flowers than throw dollar bills in the trash. i'm like julia roberts in that way. i saw her on oprah once talking about composting. she said she hates throwing food away too. i'm with her on that.
