more holiday hits
so yesterday i posted my favorite non religious holiday songs. so today i will share with you my favorite christmas songs from church. (i'm a bad catholic and usually only go to church on christmas so it makes singing more fun)
in no particular order:
1. angels we have heard on high
2. oh come all ye faithful ( i love to sing in latin, even though i don't know it)
3. hark the herald angels sing
4. joy to the world
5. o come, o come, emmanuel
6. what child is this
7. o holy night
8. it came upon a midnight clear ( ya know a lot of these songs really sound a like)
9. o little town of bethlehem ( i used to have this sweet book that had a piano attached to it and it taught you to play chirstmas songs by color and number. i remember playing his song a lot. i wonder if we still have that?)
10. we three kings
that was harder than i though to name 10. the last two especially. last year i went to midnight mass at immaculate conception. it was a latin mass. i thought before that i wanted my wedding to be in latin but after that i'm not sure. they didn't sing any songs and i didn't have an english translation so i was lost the entire time. so i had again so i could sing my christmas songs. really that's what keeps me coming back. i remember when i was little we had to get there so early ( still do) and i'd be asleep in no time then ( i couldn't' stay up past 11:30 when i was little) my family would pass me back and forth and then we'd go up and i'd be wide awake. my brothers and i would race to get into our pajamas so my mom couldn't take a picture and then we'd open presents. now we don't do presents on christmas eve because of the kids. boo. i'm a creature of habit.
song lyrics of the day:
i want a hippopotamus for christmas
only a hippopotamus will do
